Purchasing Manager

  1. Main objectives :

           Establish and maintain a supplier base in China according to KA supply strategy that can offer quality, cost performance, technical competence and delivery precision at a world class level.

           Purchase of components in Asia for the local and our global business. Purchase of components from overseas for the business in KA-China.

           Follow up the purchase activities, selection of suppliers and work with supplier development to meet the defined targets of the company.

  • Secure the quality of the purchased material.
  • Make agreements with suppliers to optimise the total cost for the company.
  • Work actively to get new potential suppliers, benchmark different suppliers against each other and to develop the suppliers.
  • Make and follow up the budget targets.

 

  1. Personal tasks /activities

           New suppliers (sourcing procedure)

  • Search for potential suppliers for specified parts within region China, Asia.
  • Evaluate new suppliers ability to fulfil Kongsberg Automotives requirements within areas as quality, cost and delivery precision in co-operation with supplier quality engineers.
  • Issue RFQ’s to potential suppliers.
  • Analysis and evaluation of offers from suppliers. Presentation for sourcing committee.
  • Negotiate with potential suppliers (mandate given by sourcing committee)
  • Participate in supplier selection (sourcing committee).
  • Issue order to supplier referring to agreed quality/delivery/capacity/cost levels including necessary agreements (according to KA procedures).
  • Establish agreements within SAP.
  • Give information to affected KA departments and locations.

 

           Already established suppliers:

  • Work actively with quality assurance and delivery precision of suppliers both proactively and necessary reactive measures.
  • Monitor that they fulfil contractual obligations and take action if they don’t.
  • Initiate “RATIO” – projects and improvement programs to reduce cost, improve quality and delivery precision.
  • Check validity of invoices and take action if differences arise.
  • Maintain SAP agreements.
  • Immediately inform affected persons and departments if supplier assumptions change.
  • Handle the QIP 1, vendor complaint process, including the registration of complaints and corrective actions in SAP.

 

In general

  • Establish budget assumptions and objectives once a year.
  • Report results to superior according to established procedures.
  • Execute tasks given by superior not mentioned in job description.
  • Eventually participate in STC and project meetings.
  • Keep yourself updated within the purchase profession.
  • Follow KA strategy, guidelines, procedures and instructions
  • Co-ordinate actions with European, American and other Asian purchasers.

  • Make contracts that secure the required quality level, delivery precision and give the company the lowest total cost.
  • Analyse cost saving potential with alternative sourcing from Asia for parts in the total purchase portfolio of KA-group.
  • Continuously improvements trough:
  • analysis of the suppliers strong and week points related to quality, price, delivery performance.
  • make proposals for strategic changes to reduce the purchase cost.
  • evaluations of purchase from low cost sources.

6.    Competence profile (idealistic)

Education:                            International trade or Engineer with an academic degree with commercial experience.

Work experience:                 5-10 years of work experience from engineering industry.                                                          A minimum of 3 years experience from automotive industry.

           Special requirements:            Co-operative

                                                          High degree of personal integrity and confidence.

Speaking and writing English fluently.

Knowledge of IATF16949

Knowledge of ISO14001

Knowledge of EHS

  • To act independently within the compass of the rules of the company.
  • To act as the company’s representative in contractual discussions with suppliers in the Asian region together  with collegues in Korea
