We are seeking an engineer who is genuinely interested in product development and innovation as part of the process to secure patents and trademark protection. A part of the job is to actively follow the development of our own products into the market. In the automotive segment, Kongsberg Automotive is a leading system supplier in couplings and tube systems, and focus is both on securing own Intellectual Property Rights and to secure that our solutions do not infringe into valid patents in the market.

For this position, we are seeking a Research and Regulation engineer preferably with experience in one or more of the following fields:
Innovation processes and/or design work experience
Patents education and/or experience from work in patent databases
Experiences from making 3D models and printing of design work in an early pre- project phase
Experience from Automotive manufacturing and/or plastic molding tool technology
You will cooperate closely with different support functions for the global project organization in the division Flow Control Systems (FCS). FCS is a market leader in development and production of hose, tube and coupling products. Direct work in I-projects with direct patent support will last during the full product design process. In the early stages of innovation processes and new segments of use, you will be an important support in following our competitors’ IP rights in the market.
Responsibility and focus
Keeping patent landscape in our market segment updated as part of daily work
Patent support in design processes of design projects when needed.
Active support partner in I-projects
Active role in following up regulations and changes in our automotive business segments in different regions and market
Participate in pre-idea screening in innovation department
Contact with internal IP and legal department on legal aspects
Requirements
Bachelor / Master degree in Technology Engineering
Alternatively technical education with IP education focus
English language – fluent verbal and written
Norwegian / Scandinavian language skills will be an advantage.
