Quality Manager

About the position

Kongsberg Automotive (KA) is a global, mid-sized supplier offering superior customized product solutions to leading passenger and commercial vehicle OEM and Tier 1 customers. We are looking for a Quality Manager within our Powertrain & Chassis (P&C) group that will be responsible for leading the Quality team in the Americas. Based out of our Novi Technical Center, the Quality Manager will provide leadership and guidance for the region to maintain a QA level that meets or exceeds the requirements set by our customers, adheres to external standards (e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 14001 or similar), and is aligned with KA Group systems and requirements.  This position will be continuously striving to add value by reducing non-quality costs (waste).

Responsibilities
  • Set direction for the Americas QA  in cooperation with the executive leadership team of P&C, QA  
  • Take ownership and lead the team to achieve Americas Quality goals
  • Provide support to plant Quality team members accross the region
  • Support the professional development of the regional QA team members; identify and implement training to fill competency gaps.
  • Collaborate with the regional SQD and PQE organizations
  • Ensure compliance with all KA systems, customer requirements, and external standards (ISO/TS, ISO 9001 and ISO-14001, etc.)
  • Represent the customer in all Americas QA activities
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical curriculum. Masters degree preferred.
  • Six Sigma black belt desired
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the engineering / quality / operations industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive quality
  • 5 or more years of management/leadership experience
  • Formal education and training in Quality disciplines including (minimum) ISO TS16949, VDA 6.3, continuous improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control plans, DOE and SPC and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001)
  • Structured experience in problem solving
  • Understanding of engineering development process, operations and program management
  • Strong conflict management skills
  • Facilitation skills (e.g. workshops) with a high focus on driving others to find solutions
