About the position

The Operations Manager will drive continuous improvement and optimisation of all production linked processes. The role will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The role will have the key skills to develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. Working with the Operational team members to drive Safety, Quality, Productivity, engagement and delivery metrics throughout the Plant.


  • Maintain, develop and improve safe working practices, keeping the safety and wellbeing of all employees as first priority. Commit to plant safety procedures.
  • Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimising unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
  • Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping to enable sales growth through Operational Excellence.
  • Put in place actions to ensure that financial objectives and plans are realised and to ensure that day to day performance is ensured.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilise assets to produce optimal results.
  • Create a culture of accountability with a clear focus on continuous improvement through development of people and process.
  • Development of lean manufacturing initiatives including value stream mapping, 5S and continuous improvement.
  • To oversee manufacturing systems to ensure compliance with the requirements of IATF:16949
  • Implement strategies in alignment with tactical initiatives and provide a clear direction and focus.
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff to achieve business aims and create a succession pipeline.
  • Collect and analyse data to find places of waste, proactively develop cost reduction initiatives to minimise waste and reduce cost.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to deliver optimisation of existing assets and process, in coordination with integration and deployment of projects to introduce new assets.
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimise productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
  • Address employees’ issues or grievances through effective management and fostering a strong relationship with HR team
  • Actively contribute to the Senior Management team to understand, challenge and develop all business areas and ensure optimum plant performance.
  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts, utilising this knowledge to advance the manufacturing techniques


Experience and skills  

  • Proven working experience as an Operations Manager.
  • Min. 3 years’ experience of within industrial manufacturing
  • Automotive industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources)
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example

  • Systematic approach to dealing with issues that challenge the desired procedures or performance of the department
  • Ability to produce good quality written reports, data and relevant presentations

  • High IT Literacy - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
