QA Engineer

About the position

This role will involve working on a broad range of quality tasks across the site for a wide range of Automotive and Industrial customers. An outgoing and motivated person is required to drive improvement activities & compliance to the customer expectations


•    Participate on cross-functional new product development teams with focus on product/ service quality and Quality System compliance
•    Develop and implement statistically valid sampling plans, designed experiments, capability studies, SPC and trend analysis.
•    Initiate and/or participate in process and product corrective actions and problem-solving activities.
•    Contribute to customer concern resolution in the 8D process with internal activities as required for containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventative actions, verification and updating of APQP.
•    Support Line trials and run at rate trials on new and existing products.
•    Lead and project manage production quality improvement activities.
•    Compile process maps and flow charts as required to support improvement activities.
•    Develop and maintain internal quality performance data including consolidated reporting.
•    Liaison with suppliers for concern resolution using NCR and 8D processes.
•    Control non-conforming materials returned from customers.
•    Raising concessions, SREA & SCR documents.
•    Manage customer warranty returns.
•    Ensure production quality documents and records are controlled.
•    Lead, mentor, and train production individuals and teams in quality assurance, procedures, improvement techniques, methods, and processes.
•    Proactively seek improvement opportunities and initiate and project manage improvement activities following a six-sigma methodology.
•    Perform MSA & Attribute studies on gauges, measurement, and test equipment.
•    Plan and complete internal process and system audits for ISO9001 and IATF16949 accreditations


•    Degree Qualification (Engineering based preferred).

Practical experience and skills:
•    Eexperienced Quality Engineer, preferably with experience in the Automotive industry (OEM, Tier 1 or similar)
•    Experience with PPAP’s, FMEA’s, SOP’s and Control plans
•    Core Tools – SPC, MSA, APQP
•    Familiar with manual inspection techniques/ callipers/ micrometer etc.
•    Auditing to ISO9001 (IATF16949 preferred)
•    Able to interpret engineering drawings and understand the requirements and specification
•    Ability to make quick decisions based on experience and analysis of the facts.
•    Effectively handle multiple tasks, organise own workload to meet deadlines.
•    Comfortable working to tight timescales and under pressure, while maintaining a thorough approach.
•    Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external customers at all levels
•    Clear customer focus
•    Ability to methodically follow defined processes
•    Capable of working well in a team or autonomously as required
•    Experience with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project).
•    Ability to work in a logical and organised manner, with excellent attention to detail

Special requirements:
•    The role will require travel to company & customer sites in the UK & Europe
