NPI Engineer

About the position

We are currently looking for a self-motivated, NPI Test Engineer for our FTS (Fluid Transfer System) group in Normanton UK. You will be responsible for the development and testing of technical solutions for a range of Automotive Fluid Systems as well as a wide variety of Industrial Fluid Transfer Applications.  

The role also involves working on a range of New Product Innovation and Performance Improvement Projects across our entire product range, ensuring that both customer specific requirements and Kongsberg quality assurance standards are met.

  • Support Application & Manufacturing Engineering, on a range of NPI and PIP projects.
  • Review/create DVP&R test plans internally, with external customers and engineering teams.
  • Perform a wide variety of tests according to KA, customer and international standards.
  • Collect and prepare test samples for internal testing and external laboratories.
  • Exhibit competence when executing Design Verification/Production Verification test plans.
  • Design and Build custom test rigs for specific performance tests.
  • Ensure all test equipment is maintained to required 5S standards.
  • Ensure conformance to all Laboratory risk assessments and best practices.
  • Ensure all test data is updated, stored and maintained correctly.
  • Perform/Support in root cause analysis of test failures.
  • Support component validation to enable cost saving opportunities/supplier changes.
  • Generate detailed technical reports and maintain complete confidentiality.
  • Co-ordinate own workload in line with project plans, departmental priorities and overall business framework.


  • Degree Qualification (Engineering based).

Practical experience and skills:

  • Hands-on, practical & technical background with experience of manual testing processes.
  • Ability to make quick decisions based on experience and analysis as well as advice from other people
  • Effectively handle multiple tasks, organise own workload to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Confident and professional communication & presentation skills with the ability to interact at all levels
  • Experience with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project).
  • Ability to work in a logical and organised manner, with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience of working in an automotive orientated laboratory or test house with the ability to demonstrate experience of testing of devices or instruments (preferred)
  • Understanding and knowledge of IATF 16949/ISO 17025 and product knowledge of Automotive fluid systems and Industrial hose applications (preferred)

Special requirements:

  • The role will require travel to company & customer sites in the UK & Europe
  • Language skills must include fluent English, written & verbal
