About the position

We are looking for skilled co-workers within Mechanical Structural Analysis and Simulation to our Technology Center in Kongsberg working within our “Powertrain and Chassis” product area. Kongsberg Automotive develops and manufactures advanced components for commercial vehicles and passenger cars, with the Technical Center in Kongsberg developing advanced mechanical and mechatronic actuator systems for gear actuation and power train applications for the future vehicle platforms. We work directly with the leading passenger and truck customers.

Responsibilities

 

  • You will be responsible for performing simulation activities towards new product development projects and further development of existing product. This implies responsibility to evaluate the needed analysis methods and tools for efficient and high-quality results towards a broad variety of mechanical challenges.
  • Advanced simulation and analysis of mechanical designs; within fields such as non-linear structural, modal, dynamic, thermal, fatigue etc. 
  • You will in many cases be the simulation responsible in a development project, responsible for defining the simulation activities together with design and be responsible for execution of the plan and reporting to the project. 
  • Supporting idea and concept evaluations, building analysis models and knowledge, correlating simulation and test results, validate existing and new products. 
  • Aid mechanical designers in performing basic analyses. 

 

You will work in an efficient and agile CAE team and be part of an innovative product development environment. We have a broad portfolio of advanced simulation tools, for the engineer to use. The CAE team works with all the different product areas at the Technical Center and actively support into the projects and new development. 
 

Requirements

 

Experience and knowledge:

 

  • Graduate engineer at MSc level, primarily in mechanical engineering. 
  • Analytic mind set and problem-solving approach, for simulation-driven product development.
  • Open-minded for optimization of methods, tools and product development efficiency.
  • Ability to work structured and independently in a project with great personal responsibility.
  • Team player with a strong drive and a positive attitude.
  • Experienced and skilled user of advanced Finite Element software(s), preferable LS-DYNA, ANSA and META. 
  • Experience from working in a product development environment.
  • Familiarity with Altair tool suite is beneficial.
  • Familiarity and experience with Nastran/ Abaqus solvers is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Topology Optimization and Additive Manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Experience in using CAD tools as part of design activities, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced within field of structural mechanics/dynamics, materials (metals, plastics), advanced mathematics and physics.
  • Fluent communication skills (verbal and written) in English is required.
  • Beneficial with language skills in Norwegian, Swedish, German or French.
