Functional Safety Manager (f/m/d)

About the position

The Functional Safety Manager leads and coordinate functional safety activities within mechatronic projects. He creates the safety plan and gathers safety documentation and evidences in the project. As a key player in the project, he is Kongsberg interface for external stakeholders related to functional safety data and compliance around.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the project safety plan to ensure product compliance with ISO 26262 according to the Development Interface Agreement.
  • Lead and coordinate the creation of functional safety documentation according ISO 26262 in the project.
  • Discuss safety requirements with the customer and cascade them to the systems, subsystems, and component levels in product.
  • Perform safety management activities according to relevant standards during all product development phases (system, hardware, software) and production, including D-FMEA, FMEDA, Fault Tree Analysis, Freedom from interference, etc.
  • Collaborate with project managers, development team and customers on achieving functional safety in the product.
  • Conduct verification reviews to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development lifecycles.
  • Organise ISO26262 training (support by HR department), internal seminars, activities within Kongsberg to make sure employee’s functional safety knowledge match with our project’s requirement.
  • Assuring functional safety competence in project and support safety culture in the organisation
  • Report progress on achieving functional safety.
  • Support the customer in achieving vehicle functional safety.
  • Communicate safety requirements and review provided evidences.
  • Interface to external assessors and exchange evidences for compliance.
Requirements
  • Master of Science in a relevant technical domain (electrical engineering, IT).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in development in automotive safety-related products.
  • Solid background in at least one field (electronics, embedded software, or system control strategy) and a good awareness of the others.
  • Detailed knowledge and proven experience with ISO 26262, familiar with automotive development and quality process.
  • Experience with system engineering approaches (requirements engineering management, functional analysis and allocation, architectural design, review, and testing).
     
  • Experience with change, configuration, and problem resolution management.
  • Solid knowledge of conducting safety analysis (D-FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, DFA, FFI).
  • Knowledge in product development lifecycle and software development processes (e.g., IATF16949, A-SPICE, CMMI).
  • Knowledge on Automotive Cyber Security is an advantageous.
  •                                
  • Good technical leadership, planning and organization skills.
  • Good risk management skills, weighting development effort against added value and justifying safety with availability.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, motivating team into problem-solving.
  • Strong decision making when subjected to limited information, translated into assumptions to be verified and communicated.
  • Communication skills forwards customers, suppliers, and development team.
     
  • Good written and spoken English, German is a plus.
