Kongsberg Automotive is now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer for its actuators team. The position is based at Kongsberg Automotive’s Technical Centre in Mullsjö Sweden.

Who are we, your new colleagues?

There are three of us, with mainly mechanical background but also some knowledge within electronics. We are passionate about cars and being creative and innovative in our daily work.

We are part of our R&D department also including Shift-by-Wire(another mech design team), System, HW and SW design and simulation/validation teams.

Responsibilities

You will be part of the actuator team, working actively on the development of advanced mechatronic actuator systems for powertrain applications together with the rest of engineering disciplines (System, HW, SW and validation) and in close collaboration with other company functions and the suppliers and customers. You will be involved and have influence on the design and the final product from the initial sketch and all the way through to serial production. Strong focus on innovative solutions for tomorrow’s vehicles considering all aspects of design, manufacturing, reliability and cost.

KA’s Technical Center in Mullsjö has also its own laboratory, which is key in conceptualization, prototyping, design experiments and validation testing.

What will you be responsible for?

Mechanical design and development activities according to KA’s development processes; spanning from idea and concept generation all the way to finished design for serial production, 3D modelling, D-FMEA, mechanical calculation and simulation, manufacturing evaluations, 2D drawings etc.

Requirements

• Graduate engineer at BSc or MSc level, primarily in mechanical engineering.
• Experience in using simulation tools/ FEA as part of design activities.
• Skilled user of CAD tools, preferably Catia V5.
• Engineering experience from product development.
• Experience in mechatronics design (electrical motors, gears and sensors) is meritorious.
• Experience in injection molding and die-casting.
• Good experience in GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing), functional dimensioning and quality assurance tools like FMEA.
• Team player with a strong drive and a positive attitude.
• Analytic mindset and problem-solving approach.
