Product Improvement Process Manager

Our Off-Highway Business Unit at Kongsberg Automotive has established a first-class reputation as a Tier 1 supplier of premium driver controls to the world’s leading manufacturers of Agricultural, Construction, and Powersports vehicles.  We are currently seeking a PIP Manager.  The Product Improvement Process Manager position will be in the Willis, TX, facility 35 miles north of George Bush Intercontinental Airport.   This role will manage project tasks, including participating in the feasibility assessment, managing cross-functional team members’ tasks and deadlines, and managing the assembly, inspection, and shipping of prototype parts while following the established Product Improvement Process.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage Engineering Change Notices within the plant to ensure that the operation is prepared to meet the production dates with all relevant documentation in place.  E.g., Work instructions, Manufacturing Change documentation, Supplier and Customer PPAPs, and others.
  • Act as the key point of contact regarding all new PIP projects during the implementation and production start phases
  • Working closely with Sales, Design, Procurement, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Logistics departments as applicable to the various projects run simultaneously.
  • Communicate with the customer to ensure customer requirements are addressed and prototypes are delivered on time.
  • Work closely with the materials, purchasing, and logistics groups to optimize the Phase In/Phase Out process to ensure production readiness and minimize obsolescence.
  • Work closely with Purchasing to ensure supply is secured for production as new suppliers are brought on board and existing suppliers are resourced, avoiding part shortages and minimizing obsolescence.
  • Complete costing analysis to determine new standard costs.
  • Manage sample requests for prototype builds through the production build and shipment to customers.  Coordinates with all members of the various operations departments to ensure the building is successful and on time.
  • Use a systematic approach to dealing with issues that challenge the desired procedures or performance of the department while being mindful of the department’s objectives and KPIs

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Project Management or equivalent experience
  • Background in Automotive Engineering Industry
  • Electro-mechanical & control systems engineering experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project,
  • APQP knowledge
  • Good knowledge of ERP/MRP (BOMs, routings, forecast, etc.)
  • Good understanding of manufacturing assembly operations and material flow
  • Project management experience and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable with Pro-E, Solidworks, or similar 3D modeling tools
  • LEAN principles / Business Improvement Techniques
  • Prior manufacturing/ assembly experience is an asset.
  • SAP / PLM knowledge
