  1.  Main objectives

Lead Engineer Manager is responsible for the team’s ability to solve their tasks, delivering results to the projects (POI, NPI, PIP). He/she is responsible to coach and mentor the subordinates in their daily work, securing the knowledge growth in the team regarding technical expertise, processes and working tools.

  1.  Areas of responsibility

Target is to:

  • Secure the correct resources in the team to be able to deliver.
  • Secure the correct knowledge in the team.
  • Secure that working tools and processes are used and developed to support delivering correct quality from the team.
  • Secure a high productivity and a cost effective work in the team.

      4.  Personal tasks

To achieve the targets for the team the manager:

  • Establish and maintain a plan for the team, preferably using a Visual Management System.
  • Customize the team to meet the changing requests.
  • Communicate and anchor changes affecting the team.
  • Ensure that the capacity exists, and establish plans for how to solve decided assignments and activities.
  • Build and maintain the good relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Manage approved recruitments and hiring of contractors.
  • Plan, accomplish and follow up personal development discussion.
  • Monitor the need, plan and follow up trainings.
  • Delegate tasks within the team.
  • Gather and share information.
  • Secure that agreed processes and working tools are used and evolved.
  • Identify improvements in work methods.
  • Handle the personnel administration in the team, such as time report, vacation planning, and participate in salary reviews.
  • Coach and mentor the team members in their personal development.

  • To coach and inspire the team in developing new technical solutions.
  • To support sales, project managers and customers with different issues.
  1.  Important external contacts

Customers:

  • To lead Teams in their dialogue with customers.

Suppliers:

  • To have a good relation with suppliers to be able to utilise their knowledge and achieve an efficient cooperation.

Institutions:

  • Contact with universities regarding research and development, thesis work and other collaboration, and for recruiting.
  • Contact with research institutes and other associations within R&D.
  1.  Competence profile (ideal)

Education:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, or equivalent.
  • Documented qualities of leadership, Experience and skills:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience within R&D, minimum 5 years leadership experience in Automotive industrial
  • Minimum of 5 years working in electronic area in Automotive industrial.
  • Good knowledge of project development processes, methods, and tools.
  • Familiar with shifter, actuator, TCU system development is plus.
  • Familiar with A-Spice is plus.
  • Good general skills in handling computers using typical office tools.
  • Personal qualities appropriate for leading other people; analytic, structured, pro-active, enterprising, target focused, determined, and able to lead and inspire people.
  • Fluent knowledge in English, spoken and written.
  1.  Authority
  • To lead the resources in the team within approved mandate.
  • When needed and after anchoring change the organisation within the team.
  • To order equipment, services and material according to valid authorization.
  • To stop work that might be a risk of health and safety.
  • To approve technical documents that is done in the team.
  • To, in cooperation with other involved, define and implement working routines, methods and tools.
