If so,  Kongsberg Automotive is seeking a motivated engineering professional within the automotive or commercial vehicle market with a strong desire to interact directly with our customers. This position offers endless opportunity for a sales-minded engineer with aspirations of being a Key Account Manager to optimize sales growth through utilizing their deep understanding of engineering and manufacturing capabilities in finding solutions that meet customer needs.

Candidates must understand all aspects of vehicle OEM supply, including sales cycle, PPAP processes, prototype builds, new platform launches, and issue resolution.  The ideal candidate will draw on a technical background and have the ability to call on engineers, executives and purchasing personnel.  Organized, and driven, with superior communication skills, this key hire will be able to grow relationships quickly - both internally and externally.  Engineering sales experience is a plus. 

This role is located in our Grand River, OH facility of the Fluid Transfer division and reports remotely to the Director, Technical Business Development.


  • Develops a strong understanding of the Kongsberg Automotive product families, including the key features and benefits of each
  • Learns the relationship between manufacturing process capabilities and achievable product characteristics
  • Continuously identifies new opportunities and communicates product solutions to meet customer needs and requirements using value based selling arguments
  • Develops strong customer relationships (to include the areas of engineering, purchasing, quality, plant management, program managers and senior management)
  • Delivers sales presentations to key Customers' engineering, purchasing and management groups to improve the level of customer knowledge of Kongsberg Automotive products
  • Provides insight on customer and end vehicle volumes to support internal budget development process
  • Understand Key Account platforms and launch timing of all vehicles within assigned vehicle OEM customers
  • Perform SWOT analysis to determine and clarify customer needs/expectations, market pricing, technology changes and advancements, opportunities and external threats and report back with supporting details
  • Partner with Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Quality to resolve3 issues, liaise between the program team and internal APQP function. Follows up on activities to ensure customer expectations, deadlines and launch dates are met. Maintain agility, speed and responsiveness to customer, collaborate on ideas and address customer issues and concerns
  • Provide details and support Management with the development of the Strategic Plan for our product portfolio
  • Works with Product Management to identify product simplification, consolidation and standardization to gain optimum value for product portfolio
  • Analyze and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on activities and products of the competition to Sales Management, including vehicle and component teardowns
  • Maintain monthly sales reports and business growth charts


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials)/ Master's or MBA  is a plus
  • Experience as a "hands-on", working engineer within the industry is strongly preferred
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; problem-management and impeccable follow- up
  • History of taking on special projects 
  • Strong technical acumen
  • Experience in sales budgeting and forecasting
  • Must be willing to travel 25%


  • Minimum of 5 years of applied Engineering experience in an automotive or vehicle environment, customer-facing experience is a plus.
  • Experience in providing business strategy direction, in a highly competitive environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of the hose and tube industry, assemblies related to fuel systems, turbo systems, EGR, SCR, coolant and air systems is a plus
