Production Manager

About the position

Kongsberg Automotive is looking for a strong Production Manager with a passion for process manufacturing, continuous improvement, driving operational efficiencies and managing a team of production operators in a fast-paced, seven-day facility.  Our plant manufactures products for a wide variety of industries and sectors, including automotive, truck and bus, and commercial customers.  Life within Kongsberg is never boring, as you will be responsible for ensuring that all key metrics are achieved, including OEE, safety, quality, inventory and scrap.  As a proponent for continuous improvement, you will champion Lean activities and be a change-agent.  Using your coaching and management skills, you will ensure that that your operators are high-performing in all areas.

Responsibilities

This role is one of two production managers who drives the performance of a seven-day a week operation, with over 175 machine operators.  Meeting customers expectations and on-time delivery targets through effective scheduling, hiring, training, coaching, providing technical support and working with the Plant Manager to enhance existing  processes is paramount to success in this role.  Your keen eye for inventory control in tandem with the Materials Manager, a sharp focus on Quality in partnership with Quality Manager, and a vision for future improvements along with the Manufacturing Manager will help to round out the leadership team of the plant. This role reports to the Plant Manager and will have approximately 100 direct/indirect reports over multiple shifts.

Requirements

• College degree preferred, but not required
• 5-7 years of production management, preferably within a multi-shift, multi-process factory
• Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Outlook and Excel
• Agility in learning new computer programs and systems
• Excellent time management, organizational and analytical skills.
• Good team player- realizes the importance of each organizational function and operates effectively with peers and superiors.  Works well with all levels of the organization.

• Results driven- drives for continuous improvement
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Superb follow-up skills and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work in fast-paced, ever changing environment
• Frequent walking, use of telephone and CRT, sitting for extended periods.
