We are seeking a motivated and well communicating System/Application Engineer to become part of our strong R&D team in Raufoss, Norway. You will work closely with a group of highly competent engineers as well as with one or more of our key Customers in the automotive business. You will be responsible for the interface between Kongsberg Automotive’s R&D department and program management with the Customer. Your main task is to identify and evaluate Customer needs and to propose solutions and give technical support to Customer and the Kongsberg Automotive R&D and Program Management team.
Area of responsibility
- Technical support to Customers, Kongsberg Automotive (KA) Program managers locally and globally, and sales
- Identify & evaluate system and components opportunities, as well as new business opportunities for interesting market opportunities.
- Support central R&D with local requirements for new product development
- Propose system solutions to market and present technical solutions to the Customers
- Execute trial installation on Customer vehicles of KA products and Systems proposals
- Organize Technical workshops with Customer R&D teams to show new Systems & Products
- Support the development of new products that support KA’s Strategic Plan
- Actively work with standardization and optimization “best practice” in general, and responsible for this type of work within the design area (including 3D models, drawings, documentations etc.)
Requirements
- Minimum BSc degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Automotive Product design engineering is preferred
- Good working knowledge of computer systems; MS office, MS Project, MRP
- Skilled practitioner in CATIA or equivalent 3D modelling software and in PLM Software
- Ability to produce quality engineering drawings to allow cost calculations.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Plastic Injection Molded, die cast, and sheet metal part design experience
- Reading & writing skills in English language
- Knowledge in APQP process
Desired profile
- Background in Automotive Engineering
- Electro-mechanical & control systems engineering experience
- Experience on product simulation FEA & CFD is considered as high advantage
- LEAN principles / Business Improvement Techniques
- Prior mechanism assembly design experience
- Foreign language knowledge or skills is an advantage, English is mandatory.
- Strong organization and time management skills – ability to plan and work on multiple, on-going projects
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels
- Must have the ability to work well with others (team work) and to establish and facilitate good cooperation and communication
- Self-motivated
- Adaptable to change
- Desire to learn and develop as an Engineer
- Good decision making ability
