Business Development Manager

About the position

Kongsberg Automotive (KA) is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Powertrain & Chassis segment at our Novi Technical Center. Reporting to our Director of Sales & Program Management, this position will be tasked to aggressively grow Kongsberg’s light vehicle driveline business by identifying opportunities to sell existing and new products at targeted OEM and Tier high growth customers. To succeed, the right candidate must be an energetic, ambitious, and technically competent team player with a high degree of personal integrity and confidence. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to sell existing and in-development products to targeted new OEM and Tier high growth customers
  • Identify new product development opportunities by matching future customer needs with Kongsberg technical capabilities
  • Lead internal process to prioritize development of identified new product opportunities and establish the business case to gain support of Kongsberg engineering and management teams
  • Manage the introduction of newly awarded business with customer purchasing and engineering in coordination with Kongsberg program management, engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Nurture and grow the technical and commercial relationship between Kongsberg and key decision makers at assigned customers in Engineering, Purchasing, Marketing, Cost Estimating, Program Management
  • Maintain/increase Kongsberg margins with appropriate actions in response to changing market dynamics

Requirements

 

Education & Experience

  • BS Engineering required, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in automotive business development with traditional and emerging/EV customers in the light vehicle market
  • Proven track record of success in identifying new product opportunities and winning business with these products
  • Trusted relationships with key decision makers at targeted traditional and emerging OE and Tier customers
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as working engineer in the light vehicle market

  • Ability to think clearly and react effectively under pressure while remaining focused on key objectives and strategies
  • Entrepreneurial, results-oriented professional who has demonstrated success in building business where product development and marketing provide unique growth opportunities in the marketplace
  • Good technical acumen to be able to read and understand technical specifications
  • Calculated risk taker, with high degree of pride and achievement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills to lead and work within cross functional teams, also on a global basis with other KA sites and other functional groups on aligned projects
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
